Diagrams
The Diagrams tool asks one of your agent CLIs to describe a diagram of your repo, then draws it on the board as ordinary shapes and arrows you can move and restyle.
On this page
Open it#
Pick Diagrams on the left rail. It opens a panel with everything below.
Generate a diagram#
- Pick the model
The same CLI choice as Documents. + adds another agent to draw with.
- Pick the effort
Quick, Balanced or Thorough: about 6 to 10, 8 to 14 or 10 to 16 components.
- Pick the style
Ink, outlines in the board's ink with empty fills, is the default. Colorful gives each layer or group its own color. The style goes back to Ink each time Symvibe starts.
- Pick what to draw
From your project: Architecture, User flow, Data flow, Components, Request lifecycle or State flow. Or describe a diagram and press Generate.
A card appears saying the agent is drawing, with a hand-drawn preview filling in. Its close button stops the run and keeps what arrived as shapes.
What lands on the board#
- Boxes, ellipses and diamonds with labels and short notes (steps the preview draws as pills land as rounded boxes), and arrows between them: the agent is asked to label a few with a short verb and every branch out of a decision with its answer. Dashed zones mark the groups when there are at least two that fit without overlapping. A title sits on top, and the layout runs top to bottom.
- They are loose shapes: move, restyle and delete them with the normal tools. There is no diagram editor, and a diagram cannot be regenerated once it has landed.
- If the agent returns nothing usable, the card says so and offers Try again; try another model if it keeps failing.
Starter shapes#
Flow, Steps, Decision branch and Mind map drop loose shapes and arrows, with no AI involved. Clicking the board with the Diagrams tool drops Flow.
Export#
- Right-click any piece of a generated diagram for Export diagram as PNG, at twice the size on a dark background, or Export as Excalidraw, a file you can open in Excalidraw.
- Export uses the diagram as it was generated. Later edits are not included, and starter or hand-drawn shapes cannot be exported.
How it works#
- Symvibe starts your CLI in a terminal you do not see, in the repo's folder and under the account new consoles use. It types one prompt, reads the answer off the screen, then closes the session. It never uses a print mode or an API, and never adds Yolo flags.
- The prompt tells the agent not to run tools or open files. It writes from what it can see when it starts in your repo, such as the folder and the project notes it loads by itself, like a CLAUDE.md.
- Each run is one real turn on your plan, like a prompt you type. Like any session of your CLI, it may appear in the CLI's own history.
- If the CLI stops on a question Symvibe will not answer for you, such as whether to trust the folder or a sign-in screen, the run ends and tells you what to do: open a console in the repo, answer it there, and try again. A Codex update prompt is skipped, never installed.
