Supported agents

Symvibe runs agent CLIs exactly as they ship. It knows 34 of them by name and command, and any other program that runs in a terminal can be added as one of your agents.

The five built-ins#

These five, plus Shell (your login shell), are first class: they appear in New console, their path can be set in SettingsAgents, and they get the most features.

The rest of the catalog#

Pick any of these from All agents and Symvibe adds it to your agents. The third column is what Yolo adds: a flag, or for Goose the environment variable GOOSE_MODE=auto. Agents without one ask as they normally do.

Command Code always trusts

Command Code is started with --trust in every case, as its catalog command says, whatever the Yolo setting.

How agents are found#

Symvibe looks on your login shell's PATH and in the usual install folders: Homebrew, ~/.local/bin, npm, pnpm, bun, cargo, Volta, asdf and mise. Pickers list what they find under detected on your system, then your agents, then not installed yet. A console of an agent that is not installed opens your shell and says so.

The default agent#

The default agent is what Symvibe uses for the lanes of a preset you leave alone, the slots of the Spawn 4 and Group composers, consoles added to an existing group, and the first choice in the Documents and Diagrams studios. Choosing it, at first launch or in Settings, also arms it for the Spawn agent tool; after that the tool starts with the last agent you armed, even after a restart. A spawn order that names no agent does not use it: a role gets its own agent (Claude Code for reviewers, frontend, design and docs, Codex for backend and security, Gemini for testers) and a plain spawn opens a shell. Memory scans run only the five built-ins; they start on your default if it is one, then remember your last pick. Set it in SettingsAgentsDefault agent with Change. Until one is chosen, at first launch or there, Symvibe uses the first installed agent in catalog order (built-ins first, then the rest alphabetically), and Claude if none is installed.

Yolo: skip permission prompts#

SettingsAgentsYolo: skip permission prompts, also offered at first launch, starts every console whose agent has a flag in the tables above with that flag. It is off by default. Consoles running with it show a YOLO badge.

  • It covers 25 of the 34 agents. Agents without a flag, and commands you typed in yourself as your agents, never get one.
  • It is applied when a console starts. Restart a console to apply a change.
  • The studios never add it to their hidden sessions.
What Yolo means

With the flag on, the agent runs shell commands, edits and deletes files and uses the network without asking you. Keep it for repos you can restore, ideally in a git worktree or a disposable environment.
