First launch
The first time you open Symvibe it asks you to sign in, confirms your subscription, then walks you through four short setup steps. Everything except the first repo and the folder that clones and new repos go into can be changed later in Settings.
Sign in from the app#
- Choose Sign in on the web
Symvibe opens symvibe.com in your browser with a one-time request attached.
- Sign in in the browser
Use Google, or email and password: the account you subscribed with. Creating an account, changing a password and linking Google happen on the website, never inside the app.
- Return to the app
The browser hands the sign-in back to Symvibe. The request expires after five minutes; if it does, start again. Cancel sign-in stops a request you no longer want.
Pro access needs a verified email address. If the app shows Verify your email to continue, open the link in the email we sent, then choose I've finished, check my access. Resend verification email sends a new link.
The access check#
After you sign in, the app asks symvibe.com whether your account has an active subscription. Depending on the answer you see one of these screens:
- Checking your Pro access
- The check is running. On a slow connection it keeps retrying for about 30 seconds.
- Your workspace starts with Pro
- The account has no active subscription. Subscribe on the plan page, then check again.
- Let's check your access
- The check failed, usually because of the connection. Check my access again retries; Open my account on the web shows your plan.
- This copy of Symvibe was modified
- The app failed its own signature check and will not open. Download a fresh copy from your dashboard.
The same check repeats while you work. Account and subscription explains how often, and what happens when you are offline.
The four setup steps#
Once access is confirmed, the home screen opens with a setup card. The header says which step you are on. The close button skips the rest: it keeps what you chose so far and Symvibe picks the first agent it finds on your Mac. Once you finish or close setup, it does not come back. Its look, microphone, chime, default agent and Yolo choices live in Settings; repos are added from the home screen.
- How should Symvibe look?
OG is the dark board, Light is paper-bright and Match macOS follows System Settings, its automatic schedule included. The choice applies at once. Later: SettingsAppearance.
- Microphone and sounds
Allow the microphone if you want to give orders by voice. If access is off, the card links to System SettingsPrivacy & SecurityMicrophone. Pick an input device or keep Automatic, and choose whether a chime plays when an agent's usage resets: Glass by default, or Ping, Tink, Pop, Purr and Submarine.
- Your first repo
Three options: Open a folder you already have, Clone a repository from an https, ssh or git address, or Create a new repo, which can start as a git repository on branch
main. Clones and new repos go into~/symvibe/<name>, or~/hypervibe/<name>on a Mac that already has that folder, unless you pick another folder with Change. Tracking a folder never moves or changes it. - Choose your default agent
Agents detected on your Mac come first, then the rest of the catalog of 34. Choosing it arms it for the Spawn agent tool, and it fills the preset lanes and composer slots you leave alone. The Yolo: skip permission prompts box is off unless you tick it. Start with and the agent's name arms that agent and, if you added a repo in step 3, opens the first one you added on its board.
With Yolo on, agents that support it run commands and edit files without asking you. Get to know how each agent behaves in your repo first. Supported agents lists which agents have the flag.
What happens next#
The home screen lists your repos. Click one, or pick it in the compose bar and press Dispatch, to open its board. From then on Symvibe reopens the last repo you had open when it starts.
