Shapes, ink and images
Sketch an architecture, connect ideas with arrows, circle a bug in a screenshot. Everything here is drawn on the board itself, beside the consoles.
Shapes and arrows#
- The Shapes tool has Rectangle, Ellipse, Diamond, Line, Arrow and Sticky. Click to drop one, or drag to draw it at the size you want.
- Lines and arrows have a knob at each tip. Hold Shift while dragging a tip to snap the angle to 15 degree steps. Drag the middle knob to bend the line; double-click it to straighten it.
- The Diagrams tool drops starter shapes (Flow, Steps, Decision branch, Mind map) with no AI involved, or asks an agent to draw a diagram of your repo. See Diagrams.
The style inspector#
Select a shape or text and the inspector opens beside the left rail:
- Lines
- Stroke color, width (Thin, Bold, Extra bold), style (Solid, Dashed, Dotted) and sloppiness (Architect, Artist, Cartoonist), for a clean or hand-drawn look.
- Fill
- Background color, transparent by default. Once you pick a color, a fill style appears: Hachure, Cross-hatch or Solid.
- Shape
- Sharp or round edges, opacity from 10 to 100 percent.
- Text
- Font, size S, M, L or XL, and alignment.
- Order
- Bring to front, Send to back, Duplicate and Delete.
Pen and eraser#
- P picks the pen: eight colors and five widths. Each stroke becomes its own ink node that you can select, move and delete. The pen draws over other nodes too.
- E picks the eraser. It removes the strokes it passes over, and the topmost node under the pointer, except consoles and orchestrator cards.
The eraser removes whole nodes
A web tile or a kanban under the eraser goes without a question. ⌘Z brings it back.
Images#
- Pick Insert image on the left rail and click where the image should go, and a file picker opens; Insert image in the right-click ring opens it right away. ⌘V pastes an image from the clipboard. You can also drop images from Finder; see Files on the board.
- Images keep their proportions, with the longest side at 460 points to start.
- An image from a file points at that file, also when you paste an image file copied in Finder. A pasted screenshot or picture with no file behind it is saved in
~/Library/Application Support/Hypervibe/Screenshots.
Mark up an image#
- Open the editor
Select the image and click the Markup pill.
- Draw
Use Arrow, Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Pen, Highlight or Text, in eight colors and four widths. Clear all starts over.
- Save
Save markup saves a new picture and shows it on the board. The original file is never changed. Cancel throws the markup away.
