Files on the board

Drop anything from Finder onto the board. Symvibe decides what to make of it from the kind of file, and asks before it copies anything into your repo.

Dropping from Finder#

  • Files inside the repo land on the board directly.
  • Files from outside the repo bring up a choice. Copy into repo copies them to the repo's top folder; it never overwrites, and adds -2, -3 and so on when a name is taken. Keep original location leaves them where they are and points at them there. Dismissing the choice drops nothing.

What each file becomes#

You dropIt becomes
A folder with readable filesA code explorer card with the folder's files, up to 40, without subfolders
An imageAn image node, ready for markup
A Markdown file in the repoA Markdown card that renders the file from disk
Any other text fileA code card with syntax highlighting
Anything elseA file card with a Quick Look thumbnail, or the Finder icon for folders and files macOS cannot preview

Code, Markdown and file cards#

Code card
A read-only, highlighted copy of the file at the moment you dropped it. It does not follow later edits. Text files up to 800 KB; past 5,000 lines the preview is cut. A Copy button copies the text.
Markdown card
Renders the file from disk and updates when the file changes, including edits your agents make. Open in Studio opens it in the Markdown studio, PDF exports it. If the file is deleted, the card says so.
File card
Points at the file or folder by path. Right-click for Open file and Reveal in Finder. If the file moves, the card shows it is missing.

Code cards also come from the Code studio and Markdown cards from the Markdown studio.
