Inside the terminal
Each console's terminal is built for agents' full-screen interfaces. It follows the conventions you know from Terminal, with a check that keeps a careless paste from running as commands.

Giving a console the keyboard#
Click inside a console to type in it. Double-clicking a console also frames it on screen. With a single running console selected, simply start typing and the keys go to it. Click empty canvas to give the keyboard back to the board.
Keys#
| Keys | What they do |
|---|---|
| ⌘C | Copy the selection |
| ⌘V | Paste |
| ⌘A | Select all the output |
| ⌘K | Clear the scrollback, and the screen too unless a full-screen program is showing. On the board, the same keys focus the command bar. |
| ⌘Left ⌘Right | Start or end of the line |
| ⌘Delete | Delete to the start of the line |
| OptionLeft OptionRight | Move one word |
| OptionDelete | Delete the previous word |
| ShiftTab | Back-tab, which some agents use to switch modes |
Everything else, Control-C and Esc included, goes to the program as it would in Terminal.
Mouse, selection and scrollback#
- Drag to select. Double-click selects a word, triple-click a line.
- Programs that ask for the mouse receive clicks and scrolls.
- The scroll wheel moves through up to 10,000 lines of scrollback. In full-screen programs it sends the arrow keys, which they use to scroll their own view.
- Scrollback is not saved with the board. A console that starts again starts empty.
The paste check#
Pasting several lines into a program that is not ready for a paste would run every line but the last as a command the moment it arrives. Symvibe stops and asks Paste N lines as commands? with Cancel, Paste as One Line and Paste Lines. Agents that accept pastes, which is most of them, never see the question. Control characters other than tabs and line breaks are removed from anything you paste.
Text size#
Consoles use SF Mono at 12.5 points by default. SettingsAppearanceText size sets every console to 85, 100, 115, 130, 150, 175 or 200 percent. To change one console, right-click it and choose Text size: Global follows the setting, any step overrides it for that console.
Option as Meta#
By default Option types the characters of your keyboard layout, such as accented letters. Turn on SettingsAgentsUse Option as Meta key and Option sends Esc plus the key, which terminal programs read as Meta.
What programs see#
Consoles set TERM=xterm-256color and COLORTERM=truecolor. TERM_PROGRAM is Hypervibe, the app's former name, which scripts can test for. Symvibe removes CLAUDE_CODE_ variables it inherited, so a console behaves the same however the app was opened.
What it does not do#
- Links in the output are not clickable.
- There is no search in the scrollback.
- Programs cannot set the window title, write to your clipboard or show inline images.
