Skills
The Skills manager reads the SKILL.md files Claude Code loads from disk, personal, project and plugins, checks them for problems, and lets you edit, create and run them.

Open it#
Press S, or use ToolsSkills or the Skills chip in the open thread. Tabs show what is Installed and the Starters; chips filter by Personal, Project, Plugins and Commands.
Where it looks#
| Scope | Folder |
|---|---|
| Personal | ~/.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md, one level of subfolders included |
| Project | .claude/skills/ in the open repo |
| Plugins | Plugins Claude Code installed: their skills and commands, read-only, invoked as /plugin:name |
| Commands | ~/.claude/commands/*.md and the repo's .claude/commands/ |
It follows Claude Code's layout only, in ~/.claude: other CLIs' skills and the folders of account profiles are not read. Up to 400 skills.
Reading a skill#
A skill's page shows its scope, how to invoke it with a Copy button, whether Claude can call it on its own or only manually, whether it runs in a subagent, its model, an estimate of its size in tokens, its allowed tools, the files beside it, and its text. A skill that can never run because another with the same name wins says so: personal beats project, and a skill beats a command.
The checkup#
A local check, with no AI, flags:
- a name that is not lowercase letters, digits and hyphens, or longer than 64 characters;
- a missing description, or a description and usage note over 1,536 characters together;
- an empty body, or a body over 500 lines;
- a name that differs from its folder;
- fields Claude Code does not know, and Claude Code-only fields that claude.ai or the API reject on upload;
- angle brackets in values.
A clean skill reads No findings. Name, description and size all look right.
Edit, create and import#
- Edit opens the whole file, frontmatter included. Saving is refused if the file changed on disk since you opened it. Plugin skills are read-only.
- New skill asks for a name, a description, an optional argument hint, a scope (personal, every repo; or project, this repo only) and the body, then writes
.claude/skills/<name>/SKILL.md. - Import copies a folder that contains a SKILL.md into personal or project.
- Duplicate copies a skill to personal or project. Delete moves it to the Trash.
Starters#
Twelve ready skills you can preview and install to personal or project:
| Starter | Command |
|---|---|

| PR description | /pr-description |
| Changelog | /changelog |
| Test first | /test-first |

| Standup | /standup |

Run a skill#
Type arguments if the skill takes any and choose Run on an agent. Symvibe types /name with the arguments into that running console and submits it, so it runs on that agent's plan. With no agent running, it asks you to start one first.
